BROOKVILLE, N.Y. (Jan. 28, 2010) – The C.W. Post Department of Athletics announced the candidates for the 2010 Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Dinner, which will take place Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at the Milleridge Cottage in Jericho, N.Y.
“Congratulations to the Class of 2010 honorees,” says C.W. Post Director of Athletics Bryan Collins. “This year’s class spans the entire history of the department and each person left their mark on the playing field and court. They will be remembered forever for their considerable contributions to our athletic department and Long Island University/C.W. Post community.”
Those being inducted include: Tom McNamara ’65, a standout pitcher for the Pioneers who is still an active player today in the amateur leagues; Ed Miller ’73, who was an All-American basketball player on the court; Ed Powers ’75, a standout quarterback remains among the top leading passers in Pioneer history; Bob Jahelka ’84, a two-sport athlete in football and men’s lacrosse who was a four-year defensive starter for football; Dana Devito ’99, a pitcher for the softball team who still holds career records for wins (93), innings pitched (816.1) and strikeouts (686); Taryn Brody ’03, a three-sport athlete in soccer, basketball and women’s lacrosse who was Player of the Year as well as Academic All-American .
