C.W. Post Athletics Climbs To No. 41 In Final 2008-09 NACDA Standings

2008-09 NACDA Final Standings
WESTLAKE, Ohio (June 22, 2009) – The National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics released its final Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup Division II school rankings for the 2008-09 academic year and C.W. Post climbed to No. 41 in the field of 233 institutions, ranking the highest among all East Coast Conference schools.
C.W. Post finished second in the Northeast region behind the University of Massachusetts at Lowell.   Adelphi University reached the second-highest in the conference at No. 65 while Dowling College placed 72nd overall.
The Pioneers boasted seven teams that qualified for NCAA Championships, including men’s lacrosse (15-1), which captured its first national title since 1996 with an 8-7 victory against undefeated LeMoyne College.  
The women’s soccer, men’s basketball, men’s lacrosse and softball teams all claimed ECC Championship titles.  The Pioneers claimed many accolades throughout the year, including 51 All-Conference and 19 All-Americans. Academically, 51 C.W. Post student-athletes were recognized by the ECC for having a grade point average of 3.25 or better.
This spring, softball (34-18) made its eighth straight appearance in the NCAA East Regional and seized the ECC Championship for the second straight year. Meanwhile, women’s lacrosse qualified for its fourth straight NCAA Championship.
In the winter, men’s basketball (31-0), ranked second in the nation through much of the season, posted its first undefeated regular season and claimed the NCAA East Region title to advance to the Elite Eight tournament in Springfield, Mass. 
Women’s soccer garnered success and climbed to as high as No. 3 in the NSCAA poll during the season and advanced to the NCAA Div. II Northeast Regional for the second straight year. In addition, women’s cross country competed at the NCAA East Regional.
