Budkevics, Czerniawski, Walker Earn ECC Second Team Honors

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (May 7, 2009) –
Senior second baseman Kyle Walker (Wantagh, N.Y.), and junior pitchers Pete Budkevics (Deer Park, N.Y.) and Mark Czerniawski (Glen Cove, N.Y.) were named to the 2009 East Coast Conference Baseball Second Team, as voted on by the conference coaches.
Walker was a leading hitter for the Pioneers this season with a .306 average and was tops in the conference in hits. The senior tied for fifth in the conference in doubles sixth with 105 assists and tied for second with 20 double plays turned. He ended his four years in a Pioneer uniform by setting new career records for hits (235), doubles (46), games played (187) and at-bats (760).
Budkevics led the Pioneers with a 1.70 ERA and was third in the ECC in the same category. Opponenets batted just .196 against him and he was ranked second in the ECC in innings pitched as well as leading the conference in strikeouts.
Czerniawski posted a 4-1 record including a 4-0 record in conference play. He finished second on the team in ECC play with a 1.89 ERA and was third in the conference in both innings pitched and strikeouts.
C.W. Post concluded its season with a 13-32 overall record and 10-13 mark in conference action.
