OAKDALE, N.Y. (Oct. 19, 2009) – The C.W. Post volleyball team was swept by Dowling College and Merrimack College in a tri-meet hosted by Dowling at Dowling Gymnasium Saturday afternoon.
C.W. Post falls to 12-11 overall and 6-3 in East Coast Conference action.
Dowling won the first match 3-0 (25-13, 25-13, 25-12) and Merrimack took the second match 3-0 (25-22, 25-23, 25-17).
Freshman outside hitter Geony Fisher (Goodyear, Ariz.) led the Pioneers with 15 kills while junior setter Amanda Ostapow (East Setauket, N.Y.) compiled 15 assists in each match. Against Merrimack, Ostapow also tallied five kills and five digs.
Junior outside hitter Marilena Guadagnini (Huntington Beach, Calif.) registered four blocks against Merrimack.
Ostapow, Fisher and freshman outside hitter Kirsten Taylor (South Pasadena, Calif.) were awarded the Fighting Spirit award against Dowling. Ostapow and Fisher garnered the award for their effort against Merrimack.
