– C.W. Post rallied from a 3-1 deficit to score three runs in the seventh inning and defeat Le Moyne College, 4-3, during Saturday afternoon’s NCAA Northeast Softball Regional.

The winning run was scored when senior Samantha Yodowitz (Suffern, N.Y.) hit a hard grounder with one out to the shortstop and reached on a fielder’s choice while senior leftfielder Kelsey Cooley (Syracuse, N.Y.) scored from third.

The Pioneers scored the game’s first run in the bottom of the second when senior first baseman Holly Eringis (Tewksbury, Mass.) doubled down the right field line to score junior catcher Melissa Hippo (Granite Bay, Calif.) from second.

The Dolphins tied the game in the fifth when second baseman Bailey Phillips (Rochester, N.Y.) flied out to right field to score shortstop Kelly Schweikert (Rochester, N.Y.) from third.

Trailing 3-1 to start the seventh, the Pioneers’ first run was scored on a bases loaded walk issued by junior pitcher Jennifer Farrelly (Latham, N.Y.).  Hippo batted next and reached on a fielder’s choice that scored sophomore centerfielder Melissa Medina (Levittown, N.Y.) from third that tied the game at 3-all, leading to Yodowitz’s game-winning hit.

Hippo and Eringis each tallied two hits to lead the Pioneers offensively.  Yodowitz pitcher her 28th complete game of the season and improved her overall record to 29-6.  Yodowitz allowed three runs on four hits, struck out six and issued one walk.
