WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. (Mar. 25, 2007) - The C.W. Post track and field team opened up the 2007 outdoor season Sunday at the Monmouth Season Opener, as the Pioneers posted 14 personal bests on the afternoon.

The women's contingent performed very well, with seven marks placing in the C.W. Post top-10 list. Samantha Hegman placed third all-time in the discus (105-2.0), while the sprint medley relay squad of Christine Locher, Colleena Guy, Enjole Johnson and Natalie Johnston checked in with a 4:27.34 time - good for fourth on the all-time list. The C.W. Post 4x100 relay team clocked a 52.16 time (fifth all-time at the school), while Locher (long jump, 16-4.25) and Johnston (1500m, 5:01.70) each posted seventh-place times in the Pioneers record books. Dominique Lofaro and Guy rank the 100-meter dash in times of 13.19 and 13.47, respectively.

On the men's side, senior Joe Cornell placed second in the triple jump (46-0.75) and eighth in the long jump (20-9.0) to lead the way. Also, the spring medley relay team of Junaid Hamin-Gilliam, Avi Thomas, Trashaad Thomas and Derek Petti placed fourth with their 3:39.99 mark, while Hamin-Gilliam placed second in the long jump (21-11.0).

Head coach Rich Degnan and the Pioneers are back in action April 2, when they compete at the St. John's Invitational in Jamaica, N.Y.
