BRONX, N.Y. (Dec. 8, 2006) - The C.W. Post indoor track and field team wrapped up pre-holiday competition Friday afternoon at Lombardi Center Fieldhouse, as the Pioneers took part in Fordham's Christmas Classic. No team scoring was tallied at the meet.
Freshman Joe Parks won the 3,000-meter run with a time of 8:54.4 at the predominantly Division I meet, while Trashaad Thomas posted a meet-best 23.1 time in the 200m dash. The 4x400m relay team placed second in the meet (3:27.7), while Garrett Chapman was the silver medalist in the pole vault after clearing a height of 12-0. Brandon Garel and Avi Thomas placed first (7.0) and second (7.2) in the 60-meter dash, respectively, while Mike Marrone (Mile - 4:34.6) and Andrew Hughes (1,000m - 2:37.9) took home third-place performances in their respective events.
On the women's side, Christina Locher placed second in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.0, while Enjole Johnson was the second-place finisher in the 400m dash (1:00.4). Freshman Kristen Sweeney finished the 1,000m run in a fourth-place time of 3:17.7, while Johnson (200m, 27.1) Marie Bell (Mile - 5:55.9) and Nora Bernard (500m - 1:24.4) finished in fifth place in their respective events.
Head coach Rich Degnan's Pioneers are back on the track in the New Year, as they will travel to the NYU Gotham Games at the 168th St. Armory in Manhattan, Jan. 12 at 1 p.m.
