The C.W. Post Department of Athletics announced the candidates for the 2010 Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Dinner, which will take place Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at the Milleridge Cottage in Jericho, N.Y.

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association released the Division II Preseason Top 25 poll and C.W. Post is ranked 18th, it was announced on Wednesday.

C.W. Post head softball coach Jamie Apicella announced five players that have signed National Letters of Intent. Brittany Agostini (Middletown, Del./Middletown), Carly Chamberlain (Nesco, N.J./Oakrest), Jessica Julich (Kings Park, N.Y./Kings Park), Andrea Smith (Milford, Mass./Milford) and Nicole Hagenah (Commack, N.Y./Commack) will play for the Pioneers beginning in the 2010-11 academic year.

Athletes from the C.W. Post Pioneers baseball, softball, and football teams gave back to their community as they leant a helping hand to Island Harvest  last weekend to help in the campaign against hunger.

The East Coast Conference announced the Commissioner’s Honor Roll for the 2008-09 academic year and 54 student-athletes from C.W. Post received recognition for achieving a grade point average of 3.25 or higher. In all, 628 student-athletes from all 10 member ECC institutions were announced.

The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced the 2009 All-Stars and junior shortstop Christie Softy (Floral Park, N.Y.) was selected First Team.

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association released its 2009 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division II All-Region teams and C.W. Post received three selections. Two 13-member teams were selected for eight NCAA regions, totaling 107 student-athletes. All members are eligible for NFCA All-America teams.

The 2009 Daktronics Softball East Region selections were announced and junior shortstop Christie Softy (Floral Park, N.Y.) was named First Team by the region’s sports information directors. Additionally, sophomore pitcher Sarah Kiser (Cooper City, Fla.) and junior outfielder Melissa Medina (Levittown, N.Y.) were named All-Region Second Team.

The C.W. Post softball team’s postseason was cut short by a 2-0 loss to the University of New Haven in the fifth game of the NCAA Division II Softball East Regional Saturday afternoon. The Pioneers defeated Southern Connecticut State University, 6-1, earlier in the afternoon.
