Working Title:                        Intern – Athletic Operations
 
Reports To:                 Coordinator of Game Day Operations/Special Events
Assistant(s) Coordinator of Game Day Operations/Special Events
 
Primary Function:
 
C.W. Post – LIU, a NCAA Division II member of the East Coast Conference (ECC) in Brookville, NY is accepting applications for internship positions in athletic operations.
 
Including, but not limited too:
 
·         Assistance with the set-up, operation and breakdown of the department’s overall athletic events
·         Working closely with internal and external constituencies to coordinate athletic events
·         Ticket operations
·         Facility maintenance and preparation for special events
·         Make contact with competing universities in advance, introducing oneself and offering services
·         Provide various administrative tasks
·         Coordinate marketing and promotions for all intercollegiate athletics programs
·         Mascot maintenance and performances
·         General office duties for department staff and head coaches as assigned
 
Background Requirements:
 
  1. Bachelor/Graduate degree or working towards a degree in sport management, marketing and/or in appropriate field, organizational, communication and public relations skills.
  2. Must possess a strong work ethic and eagerness to work in the sports industry.
  3. The intern is frequently required to work nights, weekends, and extended hours
 

Working Title: Intern - Football Operations

Reports To: Head Football Coach, Assistant(s) Football Coaches, Internship Supervisor

Primary Function:

Including, but not limited to:

Secure all football facilities associated with all practices and games
                
Supervision of game day coordination for football team home games
                
Set up the sidelines for all football home games and supervise 
                field maintenance
                
Assistance with team orientated office work
                
Serve as the contact for all visiting teams
                
Filming of practices and coordination of film exchange
                
Equipment maintenance
                
Assist with community service opportunities and appearances
                
Clock/chain operation for practices
                
Assist with the planning of football team functions (i.e. Hall of Fame, Award
                Dinner, Banquets)
                
Performs other duties as assigned by the Head Football Coach, Assistant(s)

Background Requirements:

1. Bachelor/Graduate degree or working towards a degree in appropriate field,

2. Sports Information Internships
 
The C.W. Post Office of Sports Information welcomes applications for undergraduate and graduate internships. Duties for the internship include, but are not limited to: assisting in all facets of the publicity of a NCAA Division II athletic department; writing press releases and feature articles for media distribution and web site content; compiling in-game and season statistics, using The Automated Scorebook/StatCrew Software; designing game programs and other department publications, using Adobe InDesign; and assisting in the maintenance of the school's athletic web site.
 
This internship program would allow undergraduate and/or graduate students to earn credits toward their respective degree, and ideally the candidates will be pursuing a degree in sports management, communications, marketing, public relations, or another related field. Previous experience in a sports information office is not required, but is strongly preferred.
