C.W. Post Athletics - Community Service

Pioneer Community Pride!

C.W. Post student-athletes have traditionally given their all, on and off the competition grounds. During 2006-07, the Pioneers combined for a .680 winning percentage, sent seven teams to the NCAA Division II Championships, and saw 121 student-athletes named all-conference (including 28 all-region performers and 21 All-America recipients). In the classroom, five teams received all-academic mention from their respective coaches' associations.

However, C.W. Post student-athletes and staff members literally batted 1,000 during the year off the field in another area: community service. During the 2006-07 academic year, the C.W. Post athletic teams performed well over 1,000 hours of community service. Included in this project, among other tasks, were the football and men's lacrosse teams assisting Habitat for Humanity; the women's soccer team taking part in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's Walk to Cure Diabetes; and the women's lacrosse team helping out multiple times at a local soup kitchen. Bryan Collins, the Pioneers' director of athletics, instituted the community service initiative to help the C.W. Post student-athletes to acquire a wholistic educational experience.

Throughout the coming seasons, please check back with this page to view the community service projects that the C.W. Post Department of Athletics take on in 2007-08, complete with photos and summaries.

The athletic department's community service liaison is Jim Gibbons. He can be reached via e-mail or at (516) 299-2938.
